McNeese rodeo teams shine at Texas A&M competition

The McNeese State University men’s rodeo team placed first and the women’s team placed second recently at the Texas A&M University rodeo competition in Bryan Station.

For the men’s team, Shea Fournier, Raceland, was named men’s all-around champion and he took first place in saddle bronc riding and second place in bull riding. Also in saddle bronc riding, Isaac Richard, Eunice, took second place while Jace Nixon, Lake Charles, took third place.

In bareback riding, Kade Sonnier, Carencro, finished second, Connor Griffith, Bradford, Tenn., tied for fourth/fifth place and Cody Lebato, Lake Charles, placed ninth.

For the women’s team, Katherine Moss, Moss Bluff, finished second in goat tying, while Kaylee Cormier, Iowa, placed fourth, Kamryn Duncan, Denham Springs, came in seventh and Mersadie Martin, Lufkin, Texas, placed eighth in this same competition. Kylie Conner, Welsh, placed second in breakaway roping and Karli Kyle, Lake Charles, finished in seventh place in barrel racing.

The McNeese rodeo team’s next competition is March 24-25 at Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas.
