Shirley “Muv” L. Roe

JENNINGS – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Shirley L. Roe “Muv,” 87, of Jennings, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with the Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mrs. Roe will begin on Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, 2022, at 9 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Roe was born on July 8, 1935, in Tee Mamou to Emile and Theresa Ortego Leger. She graduated from Iota High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and became known as Muv to all her family and all who knew and loved her. She was a very active member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, a eucharistic minister, long time member of Ladies Alter Society, a sixty-five-year member of Catholic Daughters of America. She was the founder of the Tuesday Morning Rosary group. She was very proud of her Cajun Heritage and loved attending all the events related to her heritage. She stayed very close to her Iota high school classmates. Muv opened her heart and home not only to her family but to everyone who crossed her path and gave of herself to all without end.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tessie Roe Fischer and husband John, Laurie Roe Guinn and husband James, Molly Roe Thibodeaux and husband Gordon and Shelley Roe; son, Noel Roe; sister, Lillian Naquin; daughter in law, Jackie Roe; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Leger; Cheryl Leger and Frances Leger; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved husband of 65 years, Richard Roe Jr.; her son, Richard R. Roe III; and five brothers, Clyde, Claude, Clarence, Robert and Donald Leger.
