(1939 – 2024)

Richard “Dick” Berchmann Cappel, 84, of Lake Charles, La. died Sunday, March 24, 2024.

He was born in Marksville, La. in 1939 to May Roy Cappel and Ernest Berchamann Cappel.  He attended LSU, graduated from LSU Law School in 1964, and practiced law in Lake Charles with Raggio, Cappel, Chosen and Berniard until he retired in 2010.

Dick was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Ernestine Cappel Kuhn, James “Jimmy” Cappel, and Edmund Cappel, and is survived by his twin brother, Fred; sister, Caroline; and wife of 54 years, Mary Eileen Cappel.  He is also survived by his daughters, Martha and Amy; son, John and his wife Allison; and grandchildren, Eliza, Gus, Ben, Sam, Tom and Maggie.

We will be holding a mass at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church on April 11, 2024 at 12 p.m. Monsignor Greg will officiate the mass. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dick’s life.
