John ”Jack” Carr Garrison, Sr.

John “Jack” Carr Garrison Sr., 91, a resident of Sulphur, La., passed from this life onto his eternal reward on July 29, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack, as he was known by all, was a devoted family man and will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His family was the center of his life. Mr. Garrison left his extended family at W. R. Grace after 40 years of dedicated service. He was an avid outdoorsman and fan and supporter of his children’s sporting events. He was their biggest cheerleader and was always in attendance. He was a dedicated LSU, New Orleans Saints, and Sulphur Tors fan and coached basketball, football, and baseball for Sulphur Parks and Recreations for several years. Jack took pride in his lawn and garden.
Mr. Garrison is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Carr and Pearl Effie Davis Garrison; grandson, Alex Carr Foreman; great-grandson, Leo Brooks Foreman; and seven siblings.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara Ledger Garrison; his loving children, John Carr Garrison Jr. and wife Mona, Mary Elizabeth Garrison Taylor and husband Bob, and Linda Lou Garrison Foreman and husband Damon; brother, Robert “Bob” Garrison and wife Frances; nine adoring grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Maplewood First Baptist Church and will continue Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the Sanctuary of Maplewood First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Pastor Jeremy Blocker is to officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
