Elizabeth Nan Cammack Swoope, 88, of Carlyss, La., died, June 14, 2022. “Nancy” Swoope, daughter of Ab and Evelyn Cammack, wife of Lafayette F. (“Teeny”) Swoope Jr. died at Holly Hill Nursing Home after a long struggle with dementia. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Teeny; three children, Elizabeth (fiancé Terrell Sheets), Kyle and David; granddaughter, Cheyenne Swoope (fiancé Kelton Good); and brothers, George Cammack (Willa) and Sam; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Abner Sam Cammack Jr. and Evelyn Barrow Cammack.
Nancy earned a degree in Accounting from Mississippi State University. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, serving as church secretary, elder, deacon, lay preacher, and participating in Women of the Church. She served as secretary of the Louisiana Sheep Producers’ Association for many years. Nancy was a substitute teacher in the Calcasieu Parish school system, an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed landscaping her yard.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 9 a.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home until the memorial service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 107 US-90, Sulphur, La.
The family thanks the staff of Heart of Hospice and Holly Hill Nursing Home for the care they provided Nancy these last few months.
