FEMA grants $47M in Hurricane Laura, Ida funding

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will grant Louisiana a total of $47,374,646.44 as a result of Hurricanes Ida and Laura.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, Jefferson Davis Electric Cooperative Inc., town of Iowa, city of Monroe, Cameron Parish, Livingston Parish, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and the city of Covington will all benefit from this funding.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will receive $14,834,300.09 for management costs as a result of Hurricane Laura.

“Louisiana families and communities are still recovering from storm after storm,” said U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy. “This funding provides relief and the ability to rebuild and helps prepare our communities for the future.”

The town of Iowa will receive $1,521,458.34 for infrastructure repairs.

Cameron Parish will receive $1,417,506.98 for emergency protective measures as a result of Laura.

The Jefferson Davis Electric Cooperative will receive $3,445,213.50 for permanent work restoration.

“Hurricanes Ida and Laura hit our state hard, and I’m glad to see that this $47 million is going towards the costs of recovery efforts,”said U.S. John Kennedy.
