Mary Rotolo Descant

Mary Rotolo Descant, 90, of Lake Charles, La., passed away from this life on earth to her new life with our Lord Jesus on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
Mrs. Descant was a native of Marrero, La., and moved to Lake Charles 54 years ago. She was a longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she served as a greeter. She and her husband, Pete, were faithful donors of OLQH, Family Life Center and Villa Maria.
She was loved by her six children who admired all she did for them. She enjoyed gathering with friends to play card games and loved watching New Orleans Saints and LSU football.
Survivors include three sons, Al Descant and wife Pam of Covington, Pete Descant and wife Tina of Moss Bluff, Phil Descant and wife Rhonda of Marrero; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Landry and husband Reggie of Lake Charles, Fay Ann Hendon and husband Brian of Allen, Texas, and Dianna Lynn Felice and husband Melvin of Moss Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Ninette Bartolo of Harvey; 10 grandchildren, Alicia, Melissa, Christopher, Bryan, Christin, Lindsey, Jenny, Katie, Kyle and Karli; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Descant; parents Philip and Mary Rotolo; two sisters, Sylvia Hughes and Elizabeth Martin; and one brother, Manuel Rotolo.
Her funeral service will be at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022. Father Levi Thompson will officiate. Following the funeral, she will be laid to rest in Consolota Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be at the church on Friday from 12 p.m. until the start of the service.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Clairebridge and Amedisys Hospice for the care their mom received.
