Sandra Jo Sweeney, age 78, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 30, 2021 with her loving husband by her side. Sandra was born on January 14, 1943 in Jackson, Mississippi.

Sandra was a member of the Church of Christ since 1966. After retiring from a career in clerical work, Sandra began her second career as a Para Professional and Crossing Guard at Frasch Elementary School in Sulphur. Sandra loved spending time with her family, but especially being “Nannie” for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, John Gilbert and Mable Payne, and her brothers, Sonny and Billy Payne.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Luther B Sweeney, Jr; daughter, Pamela Smith and husband, Gary; daughter, Lisa Killian and husband, Stan; son, Luke Sweeney and husband, Lyle York; daughter, Angela Fuselier and husband, Marcus; eight grandchildren, Alex Smith and wife, Anna, Zachary Smith, Michael Paul Killian, John Killian and wife, Carrie, Sarah Sweeney and fiance’, Ethan Cross, Logan Settoon, Elizabeth Settoon, Matthew Settoon; and six great-grandchildren, Levi and Daisy Smith, Addie, Adele, Brody, and Callum Killian.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Enterprise Blvd Church of Christ, 2801 Enterprise Blvd, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70601. Minister, Jeremy Folding will officiate. Family will receive friends beginning at noon at the church.
