Heist will add an element of mystery to downtown Lake Charles with its first masquerade ball, which will take place Friday, Feb. 28.

Due to the Merchants’ Parade, the ball will start at 8 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at Vallier at Home, at 2001 Ryan St., and at Heist, at 700 Ryan St.

“It’s an evening of revelry and luxury,” said Alex Lee, a bartender and server at Heist.

“It’s a tribute to Lake Charles, our customers and to that downtown area,” said Dan Goodly, a liaison for Heist.

Two kinds of tickets are available — regular and VIP. The VIP tickets include access to the “boardroom,” where ticket holders have available seating and hors d’oeuvres.

Masks will be mandatory to enter the event. Masks will be sold at the door for $5.

Proper dress will be expected such as cocktail and suit/dress to formal and tuxedo.

“I already know some of the women will be wearing ball gowns,” said Lee.

Music will be provided by a DJ. Jazz music will start off the event, with the music getting more current, appealing to all ages.

Food and drinks will be available at the event such as Heist’s signature dishes — smoked salmon quesadillas, alligator tacos, crawfish macaroni and cheese.

There are three different deserts to try. The newest dessert, pistachio gelato, can be enhanced with Cathead Pecan vodka.

“I’m excited — a little nervous — but excited for the event. We get to dress up; even the employees are wearing masks,” said Lee.
