Dr. Michael “Mike” McClinton Kurth passed away peacefully in his home on April 30, 2024.  Mike was a Professor of Economics and taught for nearly 30 years at McNeese State University.  He retired from McNeese and was named Professor Emeritus in 2018.  Mike is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Edward Kurth and sister, Jean Kurth.  Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 38 years, Cathy Kurth; children, Mette (Jeff) Frotton, Michael (Gayle) Kurth Brandeis, Lexi (Justin) Fontenot, Traci (Jude) Frederick, Ryan Kurth, and Billy Kurth; 13 grandchildren, Justin and Spencer Underwood, Asher Brandeis, Caden, Collin, Rhett, Jolie, J.J. and Rhys Fontenot, Ava, Aubrey, Parker, and Kobe Frederick); many nieces and nephews, and his beloved pet, Bandit.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made to the McNeese Foundation to the Dr. Michael M. Kurth Scholarship or Dr. Michael Kurth Scholarship in Finance.
