Geraldine Boudreaux Richard

Geraldine Boudreaux Richard, 85, of Sweetlake, La., passed away on Dec. 12, 2023, in a local hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Dec. 20, 1937, in Creole, La., she was the daughter of Mayo Boudreaux and Lucia Theriot Boudreaux.

Geraldine attended Grand Chenier High School and went on to own and operate Richard Feed Store. She married Ervin Richard on May 4, 1957, and together they created a beautiful life.

Known for her love of gardening, canning vegetables, making rosaries, baking, and cooking, Geraldine found joy in large gatherings with family. Her warm spirit touched the lives of many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sherrie Theriot (Brien), Pam Savoie, and Randall Richard (Christi); her grandchildren, Laura Beth Taylor (Billy), Cody Richard, Chase Ortego (Jada), Thomas Richard, Kayla Conner (Carl), and Jason Theriot (Kristin); her great-grandchildren, Kobe, Kaden, Kinley Taylor, Rylan Ortego, John Ervin Conner, Collin Conner, and Beck Theriot; her sisters, Joyce Savoie and Martha Conner, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin Richard; her brothers, Carence, Dewey, Charlie, and Galton Boudreaux; her sisters, Mae LeBoeuf, Willa Dean Boudreaux, and her son-in-law, Arlo Savoie.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Cornerstone Hospital, family and friends for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Lake Charles, La. Father Wayne LeBleu will serve as Cele-brant. Burial will follow in Sweetlake-Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumes at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 until leaving in procession to the church for the funeral mass at 2 p.m.
