LCCP has been on a roll since entering the postseason on a four-game losing streak and will play in the quarterfinals for the first time since its 2020 semifinal run.

LCCP will travel to No. 4 University Lab (10-1) on Friday.

The Trailblazers are one of a trio of teams on a state title hunt from District 3-3A along with No. 8 Iowa (9-3) and No. 10 Jennings (9-3).

Iowa routed No. 9 Plaquemine 36-19 last week in the Nonselect Division II regional playoffs. Jonathan Walker Jr. scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, and quarterback Josiah Bushnell had one on the ground and one through the air.

Iowa will travel to No. 1 North DeSoto (10-1) on Friday in a rematch of last year’s semifinal matchup that the Griffins won 38-9.

No. 10 Jennings (9-3) secured its quarterfinal ticket with 5:17 left to play at No. 26 St. Martinville (4-8) when ReJohn Zeno scored on a 56-yard run.

Jennings won 25-23, and Zeno ran for 245 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries.

The Bulldogs will travel to No. 2 Cecilia (10-1) this week.

The area’s other quarterfinal team is Nonselect Division IV No. 8 Welsh (9-3).

Running back Hayden VanNess ran for a season-high 193 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries to pace the Greyhounds, who will travel to No. 1 Logansport (10-1) in the quarterfinals.
