Betty Jane Collins McCall was born April 2, 1930 in Marthaville, La. The Lord took her home peacefully Nov. 10, 2023 from her home in Magnolia, Texas where she was a beloved member of the Magnolia’s First Baptist Church family for 11 years. Her parents were Foster Moses Collins and Ruby Geraldine Middleton Collins. She was the oldest of four children.

Betty graduated from Northwestern Louisiana college and moved to Cameron Parish, La. to teach Home Economics. She met and married the school superintendent’s son,  Lynn McCall. They lived in Grand Chenier, La. next to Lynn’s parent’s home. She raised her six children and continued to teach, eventually teaching first grade. She instructed many students of Grand Chenier. Following her retirement from teaching, she worked for the parish library driving the bookmobile. She enjoyed visiting people all over the parish on her route.

Those who knew Betty knew her as a kind person, always smiling, kind-hearted and complimentary. She loved the Lord, her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and gardening plants and flowers. She had beautiful roses on the ridge and a yard full of plants that were cared for every winter in her hot house.
