The newspaper said the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed deputies from their office and the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office were on the scene alongside multiple fire departments and the U.S. Forestry Service.

A mandatory evacuation for residents on and south of J.D. Mitchum in Evans in Vernon Parish was issued by VPSO due to a wildfire on Miller Road and J.D. Mitcham Road in the Vernon and Beauregard area.

La. 111 South was closed on J.D. Mitcham Road, according to VPSO.

Another mandatory evacuation was given for all residents on West Boundary, Ida Bailey, B. Johnson and R.C. Calcote roads due to a fire between Rosepine and Pitkin.

According to the VPSO, the fire is located on B. Johnson Road near Wolf Rock Save in the Kisatchie area, on the southeast side of La. 10.

VPSO stated on their Facebook page that the B. Johnson Road, Ida Bailey Road and West Boundary fire in the Providence area fire was a result of a resident illegally burning during the statewide burn ban.

A mandatory evacuation was also issued by VPSO for all residents on J.C. Calcote Road and all adjacent roads due to wildfire at 7:30 p.m.

VPSO advised that all residents within a 5-mile radius of Miller Rd., J.D. Mitchum Rd. and Almadine Cemetery Rd. evacuate immediately due to wildfire at approximately 8 p.m.
