Floyd Curtis Penton Jr.

Floyd Curtis Penton Jr., 92, of Sulphur, passed away on Friday, April 28, in his beloved Toledo Bend home with his family by his side.  Born on June 1, 1930, the oldest of two boys. He was proud to be a lifetime Eagle Scout, he graduated from Sulphur High School and attended McNeese.  He worked at the Cit-Con Oil Refinery for 41 years where he made many lifelong friends. After retirement, he and his wife of 68 years, devoted their days to family, grandchildren and close friends extending from Sulphur to Natchitoches and always making sure to include time at Toledo Bend. 

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Curtis Penton Sr.; his wife, Mickey, whom he adored; brothers and sisters-in-law, Betty Penton, Van and Yvonne West, Ben(Tiny ) West, Wayne West, Malcolm and Guinell Smart, Joe Bill and Magda McCormick; niece, Angela McCormick; great-niece, Tara Penton.

He is survived by his brother, Jack Penton; two sisters-in-law, Theresa West and Georgie West; his daughters Mary Margaret Miller (Layne), Jane Unkel (Hine), Ginger Olivier (Mark); eight grandchildren, Johnny Miller (Rachel), Lauren Miller, Kate Perritt(Trent), Amanda Sarvaunt (Brent), Ashley Hebert (Matt), Brandon Unkel (Amy), Adam Olivier (Kacie), Alexandra Olivier- Morgan (Russ); along with 13 great-grandchildren;  and a host of  nieces and nephews and cousins all of whom he loved dearly. 

At his request, Curtis will be buried in a graveside service in The Self Cemetery, Leesville, La., next to his wife. 

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Hospice of Natchitoches/Many who consistently went above and beyond to help. A very special thanks to Dad’s caregivers who became part of the family and whom he loved: Karri and Gary Love,             Robin Walker, Bea Smith and Linda Bailey.

Pallbearers will be his Grandsons Johnny Miller, Brent Sarvaunt, Matt Hebert, Brandon Unkel,          Adam Olivier, Trent Perritt.

Curtis was generous to many charities, in lieu of flowers, please donate to National Eagle Scout Association, Boy Scouts of America, or the charity of your choice in his name.

Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 2, at The Self Cemetery of Leesville, La., under the direction Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Chaplain Buster Jordan will officiate the services.
