Brusly holds off Iowa 6-5 in 11 innings

IOWA — Brusly scored three runs in the top of the eleventh inning and held off an Iowa rally in the bottom of the inning to escape with a 6-5 win in a Division II quarterfinal playoff game.

Halsey Coco singled to lead off the eleventh and scored the go-ahead run on an error. Laila Clark walked and scored on a double by Claire Leray. Emma Daigle followed with a sacrifice fly to score Emma Fabre.

In the bottom of the inning, No. 4 Iowa (20-10) was down to their last out when Kamryn Howard hit a 2-run homer to pull the Yellow Jackets within a run.

Brusly shortstop Emma Loupe snared a line drive for the final out.

The Yellow Jackets sent the game into extra innings on a two-out, two-run single by Kylie Boudreaux to score Andie Huval and Parker Daigle in the bottom of the seventh.

No. 5 Brusly (29-6) had gone ahead 3-1 in the sixth on RBI singles by Leray and Payton Albert.

Leray and Amelia Bouvier each had three hits and Clark scored three runs to lead the Panthers.

Boudreaux had two hits and three RBIs for Iowa. Daigle and Leah Cox had two hits each while Huval scored two runs.
