Louisiana Department of Health releases grades for Calcasieu water systems

Calcasieu Parish has 44 water systems that have been given preliminary grades by the Louisiana Department of Health, and most received top scores. There are 954 community water systems in the state and 776 of them covering some 3.9 million people earned an A or B.

In addition to 64 F’s, 66 systems earned D grades. Those 130 systems supply water to 450,000 residents.

The current grades are preliminary. Water systems had until the end of January to submit data on financial sustainability and customer satisfaction, according to The Advocate. That data will be reviewed before final grades are issued May 1.

New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Shreveport have water systems that received at least a C. Jefferson Parish’s West Bank water system, which serves about 160,000 customers, received a D.  It was the largest system to receive a failing grade.

Scoring 80 out of 80 for A grades in Calcasieu Parish were the Lake Charles water system, the Iowa water system, Calcasieu Parish Waterworks 14 of Ward 5, the Vinton water system, Calcasieu Parish Waterworks District 1, Mossville Waterworks District 2, Calcasieu Parish Waterworks District 4, Westlake water system.

Also, Oak Pine Mobile Home Park water system, Calcasieu Parish Waterworks District 7, Calcasieu Parish Waterworks District 9 of Carlyss, Calcasieu Parish Waterworks District 8, Houston River Waterworks District 11, K&P Mobile Home RV Park water system, and Waterworks District 10 of Ward 7.

The other grade A systems were DeQuincy water system, 75 of 80; Garden Heights water system, 75 of 80; Utility Service of Lake Charles water system., 74 of 80; Jesse Dub James water system, 74 of 80; Southtowner Mobile Estates water system, 74 of 80; Sulphur water system, 79 of 80; CKB Trailer Park water system, 75 of 80.

Also, Oak Meadows Subdivision  water system, 74 of 80; East Park Subdivision water system, 75 of 80; Country Pines North Subdivision water system, 74 of 80; Calcasieu Parish Waterworks District 5, 75 of 80; Fairview Mobile Estates South water system, 75 of 80; South Calcasieu Estates South Subdivision water system, 75 of 80.

Also, Pharos Mobile Home Community North, 75 of 80; Country Living Trailer Park water system, 75 of 80; Quail Ridge Estates water system, 75 of 80; Phoenix Mobile Home Park water system, 74 of 80; Pharos Mobile Home Community South, 75 of 80.
