A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La., with Father Wayne LeBleu officiating. Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La. Ladies of Grace Ritual will be at 9 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery & Mausoleum in Lake Charles, La., under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
Georgiana (Anna) Lavergne-Manuel, 87, passed away at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. Georgiana was a native of Lawtell, La., and a resident of Lake Charles, La. She was born Nov. 8, 1934, to her loving parents, Bernard and Louise James Lavergne. Georgiana was married to the love of her life, Walter J. Manuel for 63 years.
Georgiana was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, pastored by Father Wayne LeBleu. She was a member of the Ladies of Grace, Ladies Auxiliary & Christian Mothers. She came to Lake Charles in 1953 where she started a Janitorial Business, cleaning houses and she also worked in the cafeteria within the school system. After retiring, she began baking in her kitchen in 1991. Together, Walter and Georgiana along with their son Carl founded Anna’s Pies in 1992.
Georgiana leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, James Kenneth (Mary-Lane Masden) Manuel of Louisville, Ky., and Carl W. Manuel of Lake Charles, La.; two daughters, Tamika (Randy) Bias and Shamika (Fabian) Stevenson, Sr., both of Lake Charles, La.; one brother, Morris (Julia) Lavergne of Lawtell, La.; one sister-in-law, Betty Lavergne of Houston, Texas; one brother-in-law, Joel Williams of Lake Charles, La.; nine grandchildren, James Kenneth Manuel Jr., Aali’Jia Bias, Aa’Sialynn Fuller, Walter Rubin, Dy’Len Rubin, A’Ziona Guillory, Ky’Lon Guillory, A’Randee Bias and Fabain Stevenson Jr.; three godchildren, Linton Lavergne, Lynn Lavergne and Freeman Lavergne II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Louise James Lavergne; her loving husband, Walter J. Manuel; three brothers, Lester, Freeman, and Henry Lavergne; three sisters, Mary Rogers-Francis, Elizabeth Winfrey and Rita Citizen.
