Peggy Rose Akins Bridges, 80, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at a local Care Center. Mrs. Bridges was born on Oct. 3, 1941, in Delhi, La., to William James and Lillian Edna (Moreland) Akins. She Loved attending her grandchildren’s softball and volleyball games and following her grandson’s Pro bull-riding career. Peggy also enjoyed spending holidays with her family and going on numerous trips with her husband. She enjoyed landscaping, shopping, watching Pro football games and of course LSU. She also treasured attending monthly SHS Class of 1959 Alumni luncheons.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, Larry Glenn Bridges; children, Kami Dee Teel (Robbie), Keli Lanaye Sutherland (Heath), Michael Dale Barbeau (Heather) and Kaci Dalayne Abshire (Anthony); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Doyle Akins (Elaine); one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff with the Rev. Jon Hair officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens at Camp Pearl.
