New election districts taking shape for SW La.

The three state senators who represent parts of Calcasieu Parish also represent precincts in other parishes. The makeup of their future election districts will become effective in the gubernatorial election of Oct. 14, 2023.

District 25 Sen. Mark Abraham, R-Lake Charles, if re-elected in 2023, would represent all of Cameron and Jeff Davis parishes and precincts in Acadia and Calcasieu parishes.

District 27 Sen. Jeremy Stine, R-Lake Charles, would represent only  precincts in Calcasieu Parish.

District 30 Sen. Mike Reese, R-Leesville, would represent all of Beauregard and Vernon parishes and precincts in Calcasieu and Rapides parishes.

The Calcasieu precincts in the Abraham district will be 260, Ward 2 Fire Protection District No. 1, Iowa; 261, Bell City High School, Bell City; 262, Hayes Fire Station, Hayes; Lake Charles precincts, 324, 330 and 364, all three at Fairview Elementary School; 327, Henry Heights Elementary School.

Also, 328 and 329, both at Brentwood Elementary School; 332N and 332S, both at Burton Hall at McNeese State University; 333 and 334, both at S.J. Welsh Middle School; 335, Gayle Hall at McNeese; 336 and 368, both at Nelson Elementary School; 337 and 339, both at Dolby Elementary School.

Also 338, Forrest K. White Middle School; 340, Positive Connections at 5282 Weaver Road; 362 and 363, both at Prien Lake Park Pavilion; 365, 366, 367 and 372, all four at St. John Elementary School; 369, Kaufman Elementary School; 370, 371N and 371S, all three at Calcasieu Agricultural Services Center on Gulf Highway.

Also, 800, Iowa High School, Iowa; 801, J. I. Watson Elementary School, Iowa; 860N and 860S, both at LeBleu Settlement Elementary School; 861E and 861W, both at Ward 2 Fire Protection District No. 1, Iowa.

The Calcasieu Parish precincts in the Stine district will be 160E,  160W and 161, all at Gillis Elementary School; 163, 165 and 167, all three at Sam Houston High School; 164, 166E and 166W all three at Moss  Bluff Middle School; 300, Molo Middle School; 301, Washington-Marion High School.

Also, 302 and 307, both at 901 Lakeshore Drive Building; 303, Ralph Wilson Elementary School; 304, Allen August Multi-Purpose Annex on Moeling Street; 305, Jessie D. Clifton Elementary School; 306, Drew Park Pavilion on Michael DeBakey Drive; 308, Calcasieu Parish School Board Curriculum and Instruction Office at 600 S. Shattuck St.; 309E and 309W, both at Pryce-Miller Rec Center on Albert Street.

Also, 310, Carnegie Memorial Library at 411 Pujo St.; 311, Pearl Watson Elementary School; 312, Calcasieu Parish School Board Rosteet Annex on 6th Street; 313E and 313W, both at John F. Kennedy Elementary School on Russell Street; 314, 315E, 315W, 319N and 319S, all at Lake Charles/Boston High School on Enterprise Boulevard.

Also, 316E, 316W and 317, all at Barbe Elementary School at 400 Penn St.; 318, T.S. Cooley Elementary School; 320E, 320W and 322, all at Oak Park Elementary School; 321 and 323, both at T.H. Watkins Elementary School on 7th Avenue; 325, Prien Lake Elementary School; 326 and 331, both at College Oaks Elementary School.

Also, 360, Ward 3 Fire Protection District No. 2 Fire Station, Old Town Road; 361, Sowela Regional Training Center; 400, Perkins Elementary School in Sulphur; 401, Calcasieu Parish Health Unit, Sulphur Branch; 402 and 403, both at Frasch Elementary School in Sulphur; 404 and 407, both at R.W. Vincent Elementary School.

Also, 405, Maplewood Elementary School in Sulphur; 406, W.T. Henning Elementary School; 408, T.D. McMurry Park Gymnasium; 440, Westlake High School; 441 and 464, both at S.P. Arnett Middle School, Westlake; 460E, Ward 4 Fire Protection District No. 4 Fire Station on West Houston River Road.

Also, 461, Recreation District No. 1 of Ward 4 Multi-Purpose Complex on Sampson Street, Westlake; 463, Westlake High School; 466E, 466W and 467, all at Cypress Cove Elementary School, Carlyss; and 468, Ward 4 Recreation, Carlyss Complex.

The Calcasieu precincts in the Reese district are 460W, Ward 4 Fire Protection District No. 4 Fire Station on West Houston River Road in Sulphur; 465, Frasch Elementary School; 560 and 561, both at Starks School; 562, Edgerly Fire Station in Vinton; 600, DeQuincy High School; 601, DeQuincy City Hall; 602, DeQuincy Branch Library; 603, Sheriff’s Substation, DeQuincy Branch.

Also, 660, 661 and 662, all  at Ward 6 Fire Protection District No.1, Company No. 1 Fire Station in DeQuincy; 663, Calcasieu Emergency Response Training Center in Sulphur; 700, Vinton City Hall; 701, Vinton Northside Middle School, 702 and 703, both at Vinton High School, 760 and 761, both at Ward 7 Fire Station in Vinton; and 762, Edgerly Fire Station in Vinton.
