The 2022 Immaculate Conception Cathedral School PTO Panther Run returns on Saturday. Featuring a 5K and one mile Color Run, participants will enjoy the scenic views of Margaret Place District and Shell Beach Drive while raising money for a good cause, Kelly Henderson, race director, said.

“The PTO works hard to raise funds and we use that to upgrade technology, classroom equipment and to purchase curriculum-based needs for all of our students.”

While the race benefits the student body, the fun is open to the public. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning and the one mile Color Run will begin about 8:40 a.m.

The color run is a one mile track around the school with five different stations where participants will be showered with colored powder as they pass by.

“Since it’s an elementary and middle school, we love doing the one mile fun run because it’s friendly for all ages. And of course, the coloring just makes it more fun. Then we like doing the 5K because it’s a way to get the community, parents and older students involved,” Henderson said.

The Panther Run is also spectator friendly event, she added, where spectators and runners alike can enjoy pizza, coffee, hot chocolate and music throughout the morning. “The Marshal’s Office will be blocking off traffic and it’s going to be a very family friendly event.”

Henderson said the PTO is excited to announce that they’ve already surpassed their race fundraising goal for the year, especially for a cause so dear to her heart as a parent. “Our school is just so great. It’s smaller and more personal. Everybody knows everybody. Everybody’s super respectful, kind and they all have the spirit of Christ in them.”

Registration for the races can be made in advance or on Saturday from 7:00-7:45 a.m. The 5K race is $30 and the One Mile Color Run is $25.
