Finally getting a chance to play after missing two seasons with injury, St. Louis Catholic junior Ragan Kee is making the most of it, working her way into the rotation of the defending state champion.

Kee provided a boost in the Saints’ 68-57 District 4-3A win over South Beauregard Tuesday night at Burton Coliseum.

She scored 10 points off the bench, including six in the fourth quarter to help the Saints (21-3, 3-0) pull away. Kee scored on consecutive possessions midway through the quarter to give the Saints a 62-48 lead, their largest of the quarter.

“That kid has been through a lot, two ACL injuries,” Saints head coach Tony Johnson said. “She has come back ready to play and stepped up.

“When teams try to take away what we usually do, someone has to step up. They were trying to take away (Saints forward Myca) Trail, and Kee picked up for some other girls who weren’t scoring.”

Paris Guillory scored a team-high 25 for the Saints, including 13 in the fourth quarter. Trail finished with 14 points, including eight in the fourth quarter.

Dayla Simon scored 25 for South Beauregard (16-6, 1-1). Simon and Jaden Lebouef combined to score 13 points in the second quarter as the Lady K’s outscored the Saints 17-10 to get within two points at halftime.

South Beauregard got within five early in the fourth quarter, but the Saints went on a 15-6 run with Guillory scoring seven points and Kee adding six.

The win gave St. Louis a pair of home wins over district contenders after the Saints beat Jennings last week.

“After halftime, we went to our man-to-man defense and played well on that end,” Johnson said.

“Jennings and South Beauregard are tough teams, but we were able to take care of business. Our goal is always to win district and we are off to a good start,” he said.
