OAKDALE — A 59-year-old Glenmora man was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler on U.S. 165 near Pawnee Road, just north of Oakdale in Allen Parish.

Louisiana State Police Troop D Public Information Officer Derek Senegal said the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when the driver of an 18-wheeler merged into the lane occupied by a pickup truck driven by Leon Henry Wallace Jr.
Wallace, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, James Randal Gowen, 53, of Milton, Fla., was properly restrained and not injured.

Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and submitted for analysis, according to Senegal.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop D has investigated 30 fatalities resulting in 31 deaths this year.
