Shrine Circus coming to Civic Center

The Shrine Circus, which has performed in Lake Charles since 1959, will be at the Civic Center on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4-5.
Performances will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and at 2 and 6 p.m. Sunday
“It’s always a good show, especially for the children,” said Maury Calvin “Bo” House, recording officer of Habibi Shrine Center.
House said the circus will feature multiple animal shows.
“During the 2-and-a half hour show there will be a chance to come in contact with tigers, zebras and alligators. There even will be a dog show for dog lovers,” House said.
Pony and elephant rides will be available. A professional motorcyclist will also perform different acts.
This year’s circus will include a new act — a quick-change artist, who “will change clothes in the blink of an eye,” House said. “I’m sure it’s going to be pretty neat to see.”
Popcorn, cotton candy, sandwiches and snow-cones will be sold at the show, and prizes will be given away during intermissions.
“It’s a good, clean show for the family, especially for the children,” House said.
Admission is $15 for adults; children under 14 years old get in free. Admission is $10 for students ages 14-17. Tickets can be purchased at local schools. Seating at the circus is first come, first served.
