LAKE CHARLES — Wide receiver Trey Quinn has had a record-setting career at Barbe. But before it’s all said and done in his prep career, Quinn will have the chance to show his skills on the national stage.

Quinn, an LSU commitment, has been selected to play in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl to be played on Jan. 4, 2014. He will receive his honorary jersey this Thursday at the school and is one of 90 players selected to play in the annual game.

• TROUBLE IN DESTREHAN: Destrehan High is in hot water after an Louisiana High School Athletic Association rule violation involving videotaping (Rule 6.27.1.)

Five coaches, Destrehan’s head coach and four assistants, have all been suspended for the rest of the regular season and are facing criminal charges.

The rule reads that “member schools shall be prohibited from filming, videotaping, or duplicating in any manner, the athletic contests of other member schools without the express written consent of the principals or head coaches of the two schools involved. A violation shall result if a school representative videotapes or films a contest or solicits the services of a non-school representative to videotape or film a game for a school.”

Because of the violation, Destrehan head coach Stephen Robicheaux was suspended for the rest of the season — including the postseason. The four assistants can only coach from the press box once the playoffs begin begins.

The program must also forfeit its 49-24 win over South Lafourche last week, which would’ve made Destrehan 8-0.
