ACTS murder mystery dinner coming to L’Auberge

Someone’s been murdered! “Whodunnit?” is the question.

Artists Civic Theatre and Studio partnered with Celebrity Mystery Dinner Theatre, based in Houston, to throw a murder mystery dinner at L’Auberge Casino Resort’s Jack Daniel’s Bar and Grill on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

ACTS is a community theater for the area. All ages, abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to participate, whether it’s performing on stage or working behind the scenes.

Mari Wilson is on the board of directors for ACTS. She said that by opening all opportunities to all the people who are interested gives the idea what community theater is all about.

Then, people are likely to pass along that experience to their friends and neighbors.

Wilson said ACTS partnered with CMDT to raise money to fix the ACTS building.

This will the first fundraiser to restore the front of the building and other repairs. There are “a lot problems with water intrusions when it rains.”

Wilson said this is something that needs to be addressed before it gets worse.

“The building itself, as far as we can tell, is probably near 100 years old,” she said.

“It was originally a movie theater back in the day, and over the years time has taken it’s toll on the old girl.”

All proceeds will go toward that.

Tickets are now on sale, $50 for a seat and $800 for a table that seats eight.

CMDT performers will be impersonating famous celebrities, such as Sherlock Holmes, Columbo and more.

“We’ll see who else might show up,” Wilson said.

ACTS members will be performing as well. However, this won’t be a typical performance on a stage.

The performers will be acting around the audience to figure out who murdered the victim.

Therefore, the audience won’t simply be watching the performing, they’ll be in the performance.

“The action happens around you, so you are involved in what’s going on,” she said. Then audience members can discuss with others at their tables “whodunnit.”

There will also be a couple of real-life, local celebrity surprises. Unfortunately, Wilson’s lips are sealed on the topic.

Wilson said this wouldn’t be possible without L’Auberge’s generosity of donating the Jack Daniel’s Bar and Grill for that night.

“They have put together a wonderful menu that people are going to enjoy,” she said.
