More than 65 vehicles burglarized in LC lot

More than 65 vehicles parked in a lot on N. Lakeshore Drive used to facilitate transporting workers to various job sites in the area were burglarized over the weekend, according to the Lake Charles Police Department.

“Somebody had a field day,” Sgt. Jeffrey Keenum said.

Keenum said investigators in the department’s property crimes division “are working diligently” to find those responsible for the crimes.

Keenum said the burglaries took place on Saturday between the hours of 5 a.m. and 3 p.m.

“Victims are still coming forward so we don’t have an exact number at this time but it was in excess of 65 vehicles,” Keenum said.

Although he did not have an itemization of what was taken in the burglaries, Keenum said it was basically a lot of “personal effects” that people had in their vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 491-1456 or Crime Stoppers.””Parking Lot Burglar
