Husband of dead wife arrested after fighting with deputies

IOWA, La. — A man whose wife reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound was arrested Wednesday after an altercation with deputies responding to the shooting.

Kenneth Steven Raimer, 52, of 16590 Ja Ella Drive, was arrested on charges of simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer.

Raimer was allegedly involved in an altercation with deputies outside the residence, in which he pushed one of the deputies and refused to comply, according to Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey.

During the altercation, one of the deputies’ uniforms was torn and his taser holster damaged, he said.

Raimer was intoxicated and had to be handcuffed to get control of him, according to Ivey.

Deputies were responding to a 911 call around midnight, in which the caller told deputies his wife had shot herself.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim, Gretchen Yvette Raimer, 39, dead inside the home. She is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An autopsy is pending and the investigation is ongoing, Ivey said.””
