Employees of Sabine Pools, Spas & Furniture cover up the edges of a new eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool Thursday so the area will stay clean when concrete is poured around the surface surrounding the pool. The work is part of a natatorium being constructed at Lake Charles Ward 3 Recreation Center, 3210 Power Centre Parkway. In addition to this pool, there will be a handicapped-accessible leisure pool and a cold-plunge pool. Architects are H. Curtis Vincent and Steven D. Shows. Kip Texada, executive director, said the natatorium is set to open in September or October.
