Scholarship Seminar and College Fair to be hosted at Sowela

Scholarships-stock-art

The Phillips 66 Black Employee Network, in partnership with the Black Heritage Festival, will host its 11th annual Scholarship Seminar and College Fair 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Sycamore Student Center of Sowela Technical Community College.

With requirements for graduation and financial aid evolving, this free workshop will inform students of up-to-date requirements.

Representatives will be available from Sowela and McNeese State University, as well as the U.S. Army, Louisiana State University-Alexandria, Louisiana College, Texas Southern University, Grambling State University and Southern University.

“This event is special because campus recruiters will be discussing the scholarship opportunities unique to their school,” said Bettie Morgan, secretary of the Black Employee Network.

Students will receive personalized information as to how they can fund their higher education, she said.

Phillips 66 will provide free scholarship workbooks for participating students, and representatives from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance will be on hand to discuss saving opportunities available to families.
