Leesville park’s walking bridge, book nook vandalized

The walking bridge and book nook at Dogwood Park on Belview Road in Leesville have been vandalized.

The Leesville Police Department received a report of vandalism at the park at about 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7. Responding officers found the book nook had been pushed off of its stand. Leesville Police Chief Beth Westlake said the nook should be easily repaired.

She also said that eight boards had been removed from the sides of the walking bridge. “Only one was broken and will need to be replaced,” she said. “The other boards can be nailed back in place.”

LPD is seeking information in reference to the vandalism. Any information can be submitted by contacting LPD at 337.238.0331 or by leaving an anonymous tip at local.nixle.com/leesville-city-police.
