Lake Arthur, Iota feature effective scorers

In this edition of the Three Point Stance, Rodrick Anderson and Warren Arceneaux discuss the upcoming week in high school sports.

What is the best boys basketball game of the week?

WA: Iota at Lake Arthur, tonight. The host Tigers feature two-time district MVP Torell Levias, while the Bulldogs have one of the area’s best scorers in guard Colby Wilson.

RA: Singer at Westlake. The game will pit a pair of teams ranked in the top-10 in their respective power rankings. Powered by the play of guards Gavon Sandifer and Josh Woods, Singer is off to a 10-5 start after reaching the Class C semifinals last season. Westlake (4-2) is loaded with athletic guards in Seth Vinson, Joe Gray, Novon Gray and have a strong inside game as well with Cedric Francis, who had a 17-point game last week against Church Point.

What is the most interesting girls game?

WA: Fairview vs. St. Louis Thursday at Barbe tournament. Both teams like to push the pace. Fairview has already scored 90 in a game this season and features a returning all state player in Maggie Manuel.

The Saints are led by Alexandria Goodly, who poured in 33 in a win over DeRidder last week.

RA: Lafayette Christian at LaGrange, Tuesday. LaGrange is coming off a big non-district win over Sulphur after holding them to a season-low 29 points. LaGrange will need another big defensive effort to stop 12-0 LCA, who has already beaten three teams from LaGrange’s district.

Name a player to watch.

WA: LaGrange’s Nadailyn Carrier helps the Gators go on both ends with pressure defense and a versatile offensive game.

This week she will lead the Gators into marquee games against state powers Lafayette Christian (tonight) and University (Wednesday at Barbe tournament).

RA: Pitkin’s Garrett Edwards. The Tigers’ junior 6-4 junior guard continues to light up the scoreboard. averaged 32.3 points a game last week. His top game was a 55-point barrage to lead Pitkin to a 66-63 overtime win over Bell City.””THREE Point Shot
