City spokesman Matt Young said the July Fourth fireworks, along with the holiday displays put up in December, are funded by donations from businesses and a grant from the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Thanks to a number of generous businesses, agencies and corporate partners, no city funds are used to pay for the fireworks displays,” Young wrote in an email.

“A cost of $23,600 has been negotiated to pay for the combined displays.”
