Iowa mayor’s race in runoff
Paul Hesse will face Errol B. Marshall in a Dec. 8 runoff election for Iowa mayor, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State.
Hesse, no party, received 39 percent of the votes, or 374. Marshall, a Democrat, received 24 percent, or 227 votes.
Incumbent Carol Ponthieux, a Republican, received 19 percent, or 184 votes; Democrat Claire Scalisi received 11 percent, or 108 votes; and Terry Mann, no party, received 6 percent, or 54 votes.
The town also voted Democrat Gerald Guidry to represent District E on the council over former mayor C.J. Scheufens, also a Democrat. Guidry received 450 votes, or 52 percent, over Scheufens’ 417 votes, or 48 percent.
