Local teen shot in Dixy Drive area

News Release

On 08-31-18 at 9:23pm Lake Charles Police responded to the 600 block of West 18th St. in regards to a person hearing gun shots. While checking the area officers received information that a person had been shot in 600 block of Dixy Drive and taken to a local hospital.

At this time investigators are speaking with potential witnesses trying to determine what was the cause of the shooting. Information at this time is limited. Several people told officers they heard the shots being fired and then located the 16 year old victim shot in the 600 block of Dixy Drive.

At this time the victim has been transferred to a hospital in Lafayette La. for further evaluation.  Investigation is continuing.
