Unrestrained Vinton Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

News Release

Single-Vehicle Crash

CALCASIEU PARISH — A Vinton man is dead following a single-vehicle crash early this morning.

On August 1, 2018, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on US Highway 90 near Mack Road west of Vinton. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Honda Accord was traveling west on US 90 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the centerline, traveled off the left side of the road, and struck a tree.

The driver, 22-year-old Adam Bret Vice of Vinton, was not wearing a seat belt and was critically injured.  Vice was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Vice and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

In the event of a crash, choosing not to wear a seat belt can have deadly consequences.  Unfortunately, some people don’t get this message until it’s too late.  Louisiana state law requires motorists to be properly restrained in every seating position, day or night.

So far this year, Troop D has investigated 16 fatal crashes resulting in 16 deaths.
