A DeQuincy firefighter has died of his injuries following a two-vehicle crash Thursday on La. 27, about three miles south of the town.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Sgt. Derek Senegal said the crash ultimately claimed the life of 20-year-old Logan Copeland.

Senegal said a 2019 Honda Civic, driven by Copeland, was traveling south on La. 27 when for unknown reasons, Copeland crossed the center line into the opposing lane of travel. At the same time, a driver of a 2013 Ford pickup truck was traveling north on La. 27. The driver of the Ford attempted to avoid the crash, but struck the front passenger side of the Honda.
