Genelle  Mavis Carrier

Genelle Mavis Carrier, age 90, of Sulphur, La., passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021. Genelle was born on May 25, 1931, in Welsh, La.

Genelle worked for Sulphur Electric for over 40 years and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Genelle loved listening to music and singing along with it. She enjoyed cross-word puzzles, sudoku, various solitaire computer games in her spare time. Genelle was a loving mom, maw, and gammy who will be missed by her family including all of her fur babies!

Genelle was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Cecile Guidry, the father of her children, Francis Porter Carrier, and her siblings, Irene Lust, Bernice Bonnin, Billy Guidry, Tunny Showalter, Tessie May, Hanson Guidry, and Wilbur Guidry. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Fran Carrier and Mickey Carrier LeBlanc and husband, Kemp; grandchildren, Shannon Carrier (Cheryl), Jim LeBlanc (Hannah), Kris LeBlanc, Marie LeBlanc, Andy LeBlanc, Nick LeBlanc, and Jess LeBlanc; great-grandchildren, Myah, Max, and Emma; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with a Cursillo Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Beverung officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. 

Genelle’s wish was to remain in her home until her Lord and Savior called her home. Her family would like to say a special thank you to her daughter, Fran and her grandson, Shannon, who provided care to her with the help of her friends, especially Tracy, Clint, and Deann, and the various hospice agencies through her 10 year journey that helped make her wish possible.
