JENNINGS — An Elton man is accused of breaking into a local residence Saturday and trying to set it on fire.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey said Steven “Peewee” Edwards, 39, allegedly broke into a residence in Elton and attempted to set it on fire.

Edwards was arrested Monday on charges of simple arson, simple burglary and obstruction of justice.

Bond has been set at $20,000.

Edwards was identified as a suspect by Elton police, who also recovered several items allegedly taken from the residence, Ivey said.
