Darrell Wayne Ford Sr.

Darrell Wayne Ford Sr., 60, departed this life on Aug. 9, 2021, at St. Patrick Hospital. He was born on March 19, 1961, to the late Diverson and Safay Lee Thibodeaux Ford. He was a 1979 graduate of Washington High School. He had a special talent in drawing pictures. He was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of The Rev. H. Arvie.

He was a former member of Christ Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of The Rev. Joshua Mitchell Sr. for many years. He served as a dedicated and faithful usher. He later reunited with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Braylon Harris. Recently, he united with New Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Barry Thomas. He would faithfully wheel himself to church and wait for the doors to get unlocked. Darrell worked for Shelter Lincoln Mercury Dealership for nearly 29 years. He was a dedicated worker and loved Carl and Rosa Shelter dearly. He was considered as their son.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Diverson Ford Jr.; one sister, Jacqueline Ford Goins; maternal grandparents, Louis and Mary Ford; paternal grandparents, Joe and Sedonia Thibodeaux. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Darrell Wayne Jr. and Jeremiah Ford; two daughters, Joy and Jessica Ford; the mother of his children, Rhonda Ford; one sister, Pamela Ford Joseph; four grandchildren, Dalyah, Grabriel, Sydnee, and Brilen; one godson, Carlos Joseph of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Ford of Beaumont, Texas and LeOla Mitchell; one aunt, Beatrice Brown (Aunt B), one great-aunt Delores Julian (Aunt Black); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

His funeral service will be held. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be held in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
