Bicyclist fatally struck near Broad Street

A bicyclist was killed late Wednesday afternoon after he was struck by a truck near the intersection of Broad and Kingsley streets.
Lake Charles Police Sgt. Andrew Malveaux said a Chevrolet truck was westbound, making a right-hand turn from Broad Street onto Kingsley Street, struck a bicyclist who was crossing Kingsley Street.
The operator of the bicycle, 52-year-old Kevin Rogers of Lake Charles, was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Officer Ben Richard is the lead investigator and the LCPD Traffic Division has been assigned for follow up investigation. Standard toxicology tests were conducted and the investigation is ongoing.
