He set the school’s single-season home run record on Saturday with two home runs in a 13-3 seven-inning run-rule win over South Alabama. DeBarge broke the school record (19) with a three-run shot in the second inning and hit his 21st with a solo home run in the fourth. The previous record was set by David Alvis (1985) and David King (1989).

At the SBC Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama, No. 1 seed ULL (40-16) will play the lowest-seeded first-round winner at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Cajuns are ranked No. 22 in the nation in the Coaches Top 25 poll.

α BIG HITS IN STILLWATER: Former Sam Houston High School two-sport start Jilyen Poullard was on fire over the weekend and helped propel Oklahoma State into the NCAA Tournament softball super regionals.

In the Stillwater (Okla.) Regional, she batted .455 with three home runs to bring her season total to 11.

In a 6-0 win over Northern Colorado on Friday, Poullard hit a solo home run plus a two-run double. She followed that performance with two solo home runs in a 6-2 win over Kentucky on Saturday.

She started her college career at McNeese State where she twice made the all-Southland Conference team before transferring to Oklahoma State early in the 2023 season.

Oklahoma State will host Arizona in the first game of its super regional at 7 p.m. Friday.

a SCORELESS STREAK: LSU sophomore right-handed pitcher Gavin Guidry hasn’t given up an earned run in seven consecutive trips to the mound.

Guidry, who earned the 2022 Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year award while at Barbe High School, ran his streak to eight innings after recording the final two outs Saturday in the Tigers’ 9-3 win over Ole Miss to complete the Southeastern Conference series sweep.

In 192/3 innings, Guidry is 2-0 with three saves, 30 strikeouts, 13 walks and a 3.20 earned run average.
