The Salvation Army of Lake Charles hosted a grand opening dedication Tuesday morning for the new emergency shelter. The shelter suffered severe damage from Hurricane Laura and was forced to cease operations in 2020. The shelter has been rebuilt with the support of community efforts and will seek to serve the needs of people experiencing homelessness in the area.
