Another upper-level disturbance will move across the region tonight, producing a cluster of thunderstorms primarily across Southwest and south central Louisiana.

There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms from this evening through about 7 a.m. Saturday morning, reports the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.

Rainfall totals between 0.5 to 2 inches are expected with amounts up to 3 inches possible. This is in addition to rain that fell Thursday.

“Although rainfall totals are not expected to run as high as they did during yesterday’s storms, any modest rainfall totals on already very saturated soils could lead to more flooding. Don’t forget, if you approach water over the road, Turn Around Don’t Drown,” said senior forecaster Lance Escudé.

Damaging straight line winds and large hail are the most probable risks.
