Southwest Louisiana is in for another round of showers and storms that could produce heavy rainfall and severe weather across the region.
Showers and storms are expected to begin during the day Sunday and continue into Sunday night, with another round expected on Monday, according to the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
With soils still nearly saturated from previous rainfall, this additional rainfall will pose a risk for flooding.
“Rainfall could be heavy at times, and could pose a flash flood risk especially in areas that have already received significant rainfall in the past few weeks,” the agency said.
Lake Charles should start seeing rainfall at about 6 a.m. on Sunday. That could last through about 6 a.m. on Monday.
