Showers and thunderstorms will persist through at least the morning hours across Southwest Louisiana today.

Residents won’t receive much of a reprieve from the rainfall, however, as another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected to impact the region Friday morning, said National Weather Service Lake Charles Storm Warning Coordinator Doug Cramer.

A Flood Watch has been extended through early Friday evening.

Southwest Louisiana is expected to receive anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of rainfall the next two days.

“Flash flooding and river flooding are expected,” Cramer said.

The area could also experience 40-50 mph winds.
