Lake Charles Police have arrested two people in connection with the early Wednesday morning fatal shooting at an 18th Street apartment complex.

Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum said their office’s investigation led to 21-year-old Kylon Tre Rogers and 23-year-old Trevon Anthony Breaux, both of Lake Charles, as suspects in the shooting of Craig Declouiet, which occurred following a confrontation.

Kirkum said patrol officers discovered Declouiet, 48, lying on the ground of the apartment complex with a gunshot wound while responding to a welfare check request at the complex. He later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

At about 1:29 a.m. Friday, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Illinois Street for a traffic violation. The two suspects were passengers in the vehicle, and were taken into custody without incident.

Both Rogers and Breaux have been charged with second-degree murder. Bonds of $1,500,000 has been set for each suspect.

This is an ongoing investigation, Kirkum said. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact lead detective Sgt. Benjamin Randolph by calling 337-491-1311.
