The Lake Charles Police Department is investigating an early morning homicide at an 18th Street apartment complex.

Lt. Jeffrey Keenum said officers responded to a welfare concern call at about 1:18 a.m. this morning at 1011 W. 18th.

Keenum said when officers arrived they discovered an unknown male victim lying on the ground within the apartment complex. He had sustained unknown injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
