Louisiana Railroad Days Festival rolls into DeQuincy

The Louisiana Railroad Days Festival and runs through Saturday, April 13 in DeQuincy at the Railroad Museum Park.
Today the festival opens at 1 p.m. The parade starts at 3 p.m. Two age groups begin the scavenger hunt at 4:30 p.m.: 6th – 8th graders and Pre-K-ers. At 5 p.m., two more groups go on their hunts, the 1st through 3rd graders and the 4rth and 5th graders.
The Ranita Peterson Memorial Presentation is at 6:15. Gospel music entertainers go on stage beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Bring lawn chairs.)
Saturday, April 13, 8:30 a.m. is the Run the Rails/5K Fun run/walk. The festival opens at 9 a.m. The Bling Your T-shirt contest is at 10 a.m. Queens and visiting dignitaries will be recognized at 10:30. The Railroad Idol contest is at 11 a.m.
This year, the DeQuincy Federated Service League is going to do something special by recreating a festival photo that happened some time ago and was printed as a poster. They have invited everyone to gather on Saturday around noon for an aerial photo and “to be a part of history in the making.” The more the merrier.
Also on Saturday, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie Band goes on stage at 1 p.m. 26 West entertains at 3 p.m. Rosedown Rockers do their show at 5 p.m. Introduction of festival royalty is at 6:45 p.m. The Stark experiment featuring Todd Stark performs at 7 p.m. Mark Reeves & Twisted X will play its country, southern rock, swamp pop, soft rock and a little bit of Cajun beginning at 9 p.m.
