UPDATES: School, office closures, tornado warnings

As of 6:54 am the City Transit Services are temporarily suspended due to unsafe weather conditions.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning have been issued through 8 am for Northeastern Cameron Parish.

A tornado warning has been issued for DeRidder and Oakdale through 7:45 am.
A tornado warning has been issued for Lake Charles, Jennings and Iowa though 7:15 am.
Jeff Davis Parish Schools will be closed Wednesday.
“We are making this decision based off of the increase in the possibility of tornadoes during student drop off times and lasting throughout the morning. Making this decision is very difficult and making this call in the early morning hours is very hard on families. The safety of our employees and students on the road during this type of weather event is our first priority,” the board posted to its Facebook page.
Due to the threat of dangerous severe weather, all Beauregard Parish schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday. Classes are expected to resume on Thursday.
Cameron Parish Schools will be closed Wednesday. “Everyone please stay safe during this weather event,” said Superintendent Charley Lemons.
Due to the timing of a possible significant weather event during rush hour and business travel, the Louisiana Division of Administration has elected to close all state office buildings on Wednesday, April 10. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness asks all drivers to limit driving on the roads between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. If you must be on the road, please drive safely. The winds are expected to affect all large trucks.
Vernon Parish School Board announced the closure of all schools within their parish on Wednesday.
The Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office as well as the 14th Judicial District Court will remain open on Wednesday.
